The Eco-Club of St. Lawrence High School is a vibrant student-led initiative that encourages learners to adopt eco-friendly habits and live responsibly in harmony with nature.
Meeting twice a year, the club brings together ideas and enthusiasm to plan activities that shape the school’s environmental calendar. Guided by the Headmistress, Ms. Lona da Silva, along with Teacher-in-Charge, Ms. Arpita S. Lopez, and led by the Student President, Ms. Elle Vales (Std IX), the Eco-Club has 20 members—two representatives from each class, Grade I to Grade X.
The club’s mission is simple yet profound: to build awareness of environmental issues, foster responsibility towards biodiversity, and encourage sustainable practices that extend beyond the school into the wider community.
Through engaging and hands-on experiences, members explore creative ways of learning and doing, such as:
- Wealth out of Waste – turning discarded items into useful or decorative objects.
- Exhibition of Natural Articles – showcasing the beauty and value of nature’s resources.
- Kitchen Gardening – cultivating small gardens and learning about sustainable food practices.
- Nature Walks – experiencing and understanding local ecosystems firsthand.
- Thematic Display Boards – sharing knowledge and awareness through visual displays.
- Assemblies – promoting eco-awareness among the wider student body.
- DIY Projects – encouraging innovation and reuse in everyday life.
The Eco-Club is more than just an activity group—it is a movement within the school, inspiring young minds to think green, act responsibly, and contribute to a better tomorrow.
