Every year 24th June is celebrated as the feast of St. John the Baptist, known as São João in Goa. To mark this occasion, we at St. Lawrence High School, Agassaim celebrated it on 25th June, 2025.
This festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm and cultural vibrancy at school, showcasing the rich traditions of Goa. This event featured competitions like ‘ Kopel Making’ and ‘Fruit Carving’. All the students were informed to get the required materials. The ‘Kopel Making Competition’ was held in their respective classes. Students creatively designed and wore elaborate headgear( Kopels) made of flowers and other natural materials. The ‘Fruit Carving’ was also conducted Housewise in each class. Students showcased their creativity and culinary skills.
After the competition, judges appreciated their skills and talents providing them feedback for improvement and announced the winners. To end the occasion, the students were taken to the open ground where they enjoyed the traditional Goan music and dance. It was a memorable celebration for the school community.
